Ing. Quim.
Maira is a Chemical Engineer graduated from Uruguay´s National University (UdelaR) and currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Energy Engineering.
She joined ANCAP (Uruguay’s National Oil Company) as an engineering student in the country’s only oil Refinery, in the Laboratory. She currently works as a Refinery Planning Engineer, a position that involves refinery operational planning and scheduling, through linear programming model optimization and includes crude oil selection and economic evaluations.
Highly motivated by topics such as climate change and the energy sector, she worked as team leader of the Association of Chemical Engineers of Uruguay´s project “Energy transition prospective in the Uruguayan process industry” and has participated as lecturer in the postgraduate course “Energy Sector Fundamentals”, where she hopes to inspire fellow engineers in the importance of a people-centred clean energy transition and environmental awareness, combining this with her perspective of the Oil & Gas sector.
She is also a Global Future Energy Leader and Vice-secretary of Uruguay’s National Future Energy Leaders programme.
